Hsinchu is a city known for its high-tech industry. World-leading computer brands such as Apple Inc. and Acer all use components designed in Hsinchu Science Park located in the city. To nurture tech and engineering talents, there are several prestigious universities around the area, including National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) among others. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at NCTU is the lastest educational partner of Spoken Wikipedia project. In this project, 10 freshmen from the department recorded Featured Articles of Wikipedia, and uploaded the sound files onto Wiki Commons to benefit visually impaired readers of Wikipedia. In the past fifteen years, Chinese Wikipedia has only forty-four spoken articles, but within the last 3 months, the students had completed the recording and uploading of 40 articles. Right now, the team led by Dr. Yuwen Lai, the professor who initiated this collaborative project, is also advising a graduate student from Indonesia to follow the same recording protocol for Spoken Wikipedia project in Bahasa Indonesian.

Since 2003, students from the Taipei Medical University's FLYoung International Service have gone abroad to serve people in need. This year, the student team heads to Swaziland and Cambodia. Due to the lack of education resources in both countries, the FLYoung team decided to provide local institutions with an offline copy of Wikipedia for their benefit. With the assistance of Wikimedia Taiwan, the FLYoung team prepared both English and Khmer versions of Kiwix for Cambodia, and also established one training camp to help local teachers familiarize with the Kiwix interface for the offline Wikipedia. All 20 teachers in the training camp found the software to be easy to use and practical for their daily lessons to their kids.

After Wikimedia Conference 2015 in Berlin, the Wikimedia community in Taiwan initiated many new projects, including “A Room of WikiWomen's Own”, a monthly meetup where a group of new female editors learn about the culture of Wikimedia community and increasing their editing capacity. Wikimedia Taiwan has also hired two project managers, who will be responsible to recruit editors in the field of photonics and Taiwanese language. The most exciting news comes from the collaboration project between WMTW and Center for Aboriginal Studies (ALCD) of the National Chengchi University (NCCU), which aims to incubate Wikipedia of local aboriginal languages. Since the indigenous people in Taiwan also belong to people of Austronesian languages, WMTW is looking forward to communication and interaction among Wikimedia projects of Southeast Asia.
